William Lindsay is a Chicago-based musician, producer, and composer whose work spans indie rock, electronic production, and cinematic scoring. As the frontman and principal songwriter of critically acclaimed Philadelphia band Caracara, signed to Grammy-nominated producer Will Yip's Memory Music label, Lindsay recorded two releases with Yip at his Studio 4: the Better EP and sophomore full-length New Preoccupations, earning praise from Pitchfork, NPR, and Stereogum, who named Caracara one of the Best New Bands of 2019. His songs have reached audiences across North America and Europe through years of international touring, as well as through sync placements in major commercial campaigns. Working out of his Chicago studio, The Goat's Nest, Lindsay brings the same emotional precision that defines his songwriting to his work in film. His score for Storming is his second feature documentary, following Local Motives, a climate-focused road documentary currently in festival submission. His compositional approach blurs the line between music and sound design, building environments as much as melodies, and treating texture and atmosphere as instruments in their own right. Through Buying Fireworks in Indiana, his solo electronic project, Lindsay has further developed a cinematic sensibility that lives between genres: emotionally charged, architecturally detailed, and built to move people.
